Hi I’m Jamie. Welcome to Girl Eats Greens, where I’m taking a stab at releasing all that crazy creative stuff that’s building up inside me and unleashing it on all you unsuspecting victims – er, fans. By day I work in television production, which means I’m constantly writing for other people’s voices. Here, I hope to find my own. (and maybe, just maybe, you’ll like it?)

I live in NYC with my pup, Madison – a seven-year-old yorkie bichon. She will probably get more face time than I will here, she’s basically the reason I take photos at all. She’s like a furry little child. Who only needs to be fed twice a day and chases balls until she can’t stand anymore. But I digress… Let’s talk about this “greens” thing.

It wasn’t actually my idea to go on this journey that has inspired the “eating greens” part of this blogging experiment. In June of 2012, I was talked into it by someone who shall now remain nameless.  But I tried out the whole plant-based thing, tried it for a month, and liked it so much I haven’t looked back. Except for the occasional cheat.

But the one thing I’ve noticed in all the wonderful vegan cookbooks and blogs I follow is these cooks must have amazing kitchens. With amazing gadgets like Vitamixes and full-size ovens. I am somewhat kitchen challenged. I’m also not good at following recipes, I kind of do my own thing. But hopefully I’ll come up with some things you might want to try out yourself. I’m in favor of easy meals that are delish and good as leftovers the next day.

I am the proud new owner of a Canon T4i that I’m figuring out how to use, so there will be lots of trial and error there in addition to the kitchen. I do on occasion travel and also hope to post some fun travel excursions and vegan restaurant recommendations. Who knows where this blog will lead, let’s just say we’re on a journey and hopefully you’ll join us. Because after all, don’t you want more photos of this face?

  1. Hey there! Just discovered your blog, and I love it! My husband and I went vegan a year and a half ago, and like you I wasn’t sure if I could give up dairy. But it was easier than I thought. I’m so glad I stumbled upon your blog – I like to connect with other on this path. Not to mention that your blog is lovely – you’re doing an amazing job with that Canon camera! Your dog is adorable too!! Celeste 🙂

  4. Hey! My husband and I decided to go vegan about 1 month ago after watching the documentary Vegucated, and a few people, including your mom, pointed me to your blog. I am doing it for animal rights reasons, and my husband is doing it because his father had a heart attack at 54. I will definitely keep reading because it’s nice knowing I’m not the only Midwest girl who is having trouble giving up cheese!!

    • Hi Gina!
So glad you found me here – or that my mom sent you here. 🙂 I’m so excited for you and your husband – I swear, after a few months when you get used to it, you’ll feel amazing. And maybe you’ll get a few ideas for dinner too. 🙂
      Hope all is well!

  5. Hello! I just wanted to let you know I nominated you for the Liebster Award! Check out my blog and you’ll find the rules. I really enjoy your blog!

  8. Dear Jamie, I love your concept, your photos and your dog–and you, for that matter. But a spring roll that is not fried is not a spring roll. It’s a limp spring. What’s to keep you from dipping it in hot oil and adding all sorts of joy and wonder? Even so, I’m following you. To give you another chance. Best of luck, Mike

    • Hi Mike – thanks for your note and your profession of love so early on in our blogging relationship. I happen to love a fried spring roll, but my thighs don’t. I find the regular roll healthy & delicious as is. But there’s nothing stopping you from trying the recipe yourself and dunking it oil. Thanks for the follow – and if you’d like something I have fried – check out my southern fried seitan or my kale salad with fried cashew cheese. xo

  9. Hi Jamie, nice to found your blog here!!!
i’m actually a big carnivorous and eat lots of meat, i’ve know nothing about vegan until my x-girlfriend drag me into it,
now i had a meatless monday policy and it’s pretty good since i’m feeling much more calm and definitely less anger…..
    keep sharing and inspiring then…
